>> sightseeing suggestions:

>> half day walking tour (using public transport)
> A beautiful way to discover the treasures of the city in comfortable pace. Because of the size of the city and the countless sights, Budapest can be best discovered in two half-day tours: starting with the Pest side and then visiting the Buda side. It can be done on one day with a lunch break in the middle...

Elephant House of the Budapest Zoo> Pest side: I will collect you in the Budaveg vegetarian apartment and then we set off to discover the city. First we visit the Heroes Square as it gives an excellent setting to a brief introduction to our history. As we are in the City Park already I can show you the other sights as well: the two Museum of Fine Arts, the Art Gallery, the Zoo and the fascinating Vajdahunyad Castle which houses the Agricultural Museum.

St Stephan’s Cathedral BudapestAfter that we will take the world second oldest metro to get to downtown area. Then I will show you the gorgeous Opera House (which can be visited by the way) and we visit the city's biggest church the St. Stephen Cathedral (pictured) which is not only an amazing building but also houses Hungary's most important relic and is an ideal place to tell you more about our first royal dynasty the House of Árpád. There's a lift to the cupola from which you can enjoy a fantastic view of the city. We finish our tour with a pleasant stroll in the famous Váci street area and on the Danube Promenade.

These are the main sights of the Pest side, however there are countless other sights, museums and lovely cafes to rest your tired feet. You wish to see more or something else? We can discover the Great Synagogue and the former ghetto area, the Central Market Hall or one of the many museums. Don't forget that all budaveg tours are tailored according to your wishes.

>>Buda side: we set off to Buda using the tram on the Grand Boulevard and our first site is the famous Lukács Bath where we can visit the renovated hall and read all the marble plaques on the walls from grateful patients from all over the world.

Gul Baba’s Tomb BudapestAfter that we climb Rose Hill to visit the tomb of Gül Baba one of our beautiful monuments from the Turkish times. We take the tram again and our next stop is the baroque Castle District which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

Fisherman’s BastionWe are going to see the beautiful National Archives, the Fisherman's Bastion and visit the Matthias Church. It's a splendid area and most of the houses have an interesting story to tell! We walk over to the Royal Palace and on the way I can show you some interesting statues, houses, the Castle Theatre and the president's office: the Alexander Place. We check out the art nouveau Matthias well which has a melancholic story to tell.

From the Castle district you can enjoy a magnificent view of the city. So even standing on the Buda side I can tell you and show you a lot about Pest! You can conclude the day by visiting one of the many museums of the area. My choice would be either the National Gallery, where you can even see some sculptures by my great-grandfather, or the Budapest Historical Museum >>

>> 3 hour guided tour by car (with airport pick up on arrival)
> A shorter version of the above mentioned tour but we can take my car so we can save time there. Our last stop is the Gellért Hill from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of our capital. This tour is of course possible without an airport pick up too >>

>> Budapest by night 3 hour guided tour by car
> Like the 3 hour guided tour we just focus on the illuminated sights: Heroes Square, Vajdahunyad Castle, Danube Promenade from where we can enjoy the lovely buildings of the Buda side, a little walk in the Castle District, and then again finishing on the Gellért Hill >>

>> feeling peckish?
on the budaveg sightseeing tours we stop for snacks and lunch at the best vegan and vegetarian restaurants! So you won't be left stranded and starving in a strange city, too hungry to really appreciate the beauty of Budapest <<

>> Full day excursions
> Many of the other delightful cities and sights in the country can be visited from Budapest as a day trip. The Danube Bend, for example, with the beautiful historic cities of Szentendre, Visegrád and Esztergom. Another popular program is Kecskemét and Puszta with the amazing horse show where you can see the famous "puszta five" and some fascinating animals, together with all the art nouveau beauty of Kecskemét. Lake Balaton can also be visited in a day with including cities like Veszprém, Balatonfüred or the unique Tihany peninsula. It's also worth visiting the Northeast where our highest mountains are and pretty, baroque cities like Eger. That area is one of the main wine producing areas of the country and also excellent for hiking in the National Parks. Would you like to do one of these day trips? Let me know and I can arrange a pleasant tour for you <<
